Radio Sheffield
- The Ballad of Don Valley and
Myrtle Springs
Paul was recently asked by the
BBC to contribute to the Rony
Robinson show on Radio Sheffield,
which he duly did.
The Ballad of Don Valley and
Myrtle Springs revolves around
Donald Valley, perhaps the last
of the great Actors to still be
doing the rounds trying to scrape
a living on past glories.
The play opens as Donald and
his Daughter the long suffering
Marie approach the Starlight retirement
home, where Donald believes he
is to be playing a gig. Little
does he suspect that he is indeed
to be left there.
On arriving he recognises an
old flame called Myrtle Springs
which sends his heart fluttering
and his daughter wondering if
this is the woman who causes the
break-up of her parents marriage.
Rony Robinson as Peter, Ray Hearne
(on sound effects) with Kate Linda
Home as Marie and Paul as Donald
all had quite a laugh performing
the opening of this new play for
the first time.
This was first Broadcast on BBC
Radio Sheffield on 7/1/09.
